It is reported in the Sunnah how a Muslim should purify these things if that happens. The vessel or garment must be washed seven times, one of them being with earth. This is the opinion of Ibn Abbaas and Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with them), according to one report. .
A Dog Touched My Clothes: How to Cleanse Them?
If one’s clothes get wet from touching a dog’s fur, this doesn’t render them impure, while if a dog licks a pot or a container, what it touches must be thrown away and the container should be washed off.The First View: The first view is that of the Maliki scholars, who hold that a dog is pure even its saliva. They maintain that a dog’s saliva is impure while its fur is pure.Accordingly, if one’s clothes get wet from touching a dog’s fur, this doesn’t render them najis (impure), while if a dog licks a pot or a container, what it touches must be thrown away and the container should be washed off.Abu Hurairah reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Purifying a container that a dog licks is done by washing it seven times, the first time with pure soil (that is, water mixed with earth until it becomes muddy).” (Muslim, Ahmad, Abu Dawud, and Al-Bayhaqi) If a dog licks a pot that has dry food in it, what it touches and what surrounds it must be thrown away.As for a dog’s fur, it is considered pure. .
Purifying a cloth which is licked by a dog
It is an obligation to wash seven times, the first of which with soil, any container, clothes or anything else, that is licked by a dog, or touched with its urine or excrement, as the Prophet , said: "If a dog licks a receptacle of yours, one should wash it (that receptacle) seven times, the first of which with soil.".Many jurists stated that soap and other cleaning substances take the place of soil. .
Can I Pray in Clothes that Were Licked by a Dog?
Answered by Ustadh Salman Younas. In the Hanafi school, the saliva of a dog is considered filthy. This is a followable position in cases of need, such as when one visits family who have dogs as pets or works in a profession where coming in contact with dogs is unavoidable (such as a veterinarian). .
The doggie debate: Muslim dog owners debunk stigmas
A dog’s place in Islam has been heavily debated, with many Muslim families believing that owning, touching or being in the presence of a dog is in conflict with their religious beliefs. The Quran does touch on the topic of dogs and their place in Islam, but Muslims seem to have differing interpretations of those passages.A hadith by Prophet Muhammad seems to be a common reference point for many Muslims. The hadith translates as: “If a dog licks the vessel of any one of you, let him throw away whatever was in it and wash it seven times.” A hadith by Prophet Muhammad seems to be a common reference point for many Muslims.Because of this factor, most Muslims tend to believe that a dog cannot coexist in a household with them.In this passage, the Quran refers to the dog as a soul and spirit as well as a loyal companion to human beings.Naturally, the prey of a hunting dog comes into contact with its saliva, which could contradict the argument that their saliva is impure.Local resident Amal Hammoud Berry, who lives with her husband and two children, has two dogs that she says are part of the family. While her two dogs are very much people friendly, some of the local Muslims have made it clear that the feeling is not mutual.“You can have a dog and have a clean house. We have hot water, dogs get shots and you can use stuff to keep the dog clean and healthy,” Berry says.“It is not prohibited to have a dog in the house.Berry adds that humans should never abuse a dog because they also have rights in Islam.“He’s emotional and he’s very sensitive. He will come and sit next to you when you are sad.She believes that there is a false stigma in the community about dogs and says it’s more of a cultural battle than a religious one. .
Dogs Coming in Contact with Clothing
Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani. Can we pray in these clothes? However, the saliva of dogs is filthy because the ruling of saliva follows the ruling related to the flesh of the given animal. It would be recommended to wash it seven times, one of them with water admixed with soil, to follow the outward purport of the instruction of the Prophet (Allah bless him & give him peace), and to avoid the difference of opinion of the Shafiis and Hanbalis (Allah be well pleased with their scholars, and benefit us from the baraka of all the inheritors of the Prophet’s way). .
SAHIH MUSLIM, BOOK 2: Purification (Kitab Al-Taharah)
He has to purify his soul from all evil thoughts and fancies so that the love of God should reside in it.Unless the soul is purged of all impurities one cannot achieve salvation. Then the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: He who performs ablution like this ablution of mine and then stood up (for prayer) and offered two rak'ahs of prayer without allowing his thoughts to be distracted, all his previous sins are expiated.Humran, the freed slave of 'Uthman said: I saw Uthman call for a vessel (of water) and poured water over his hands three times and then washed them. Then he said that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) had said: He who performed ablution like this ablution of mine and offered two raklahs of prayer without allowing his thoughts to be distracted, all his previous sins would be expiated. If there were not a verse in the Book of Allah, I would have never narrated it to you. I heard Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) say: If a Muslim performs ablution and does it well and offers prayer, all his (sins) daring the period from one prayer to another would be pardoned by Allah.I would not have narrated it to you. Verily I heard the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) say: Not a person is there who performed ablution, and did it well, then offered prayer, but his sins (which he committed) were not pardoned between the prayer that he offered and the next one.'Amr b Sa'id b al-As reported: I was, with Uthman that he called for ablution water and said: I heard Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) say: When the time for a prescribed prayer comees, if any Muslim perform ablution well and offers his prayer) with humility and bowing, it will be an expiation for his past sins, so long as he has not committed a major sin; and this applies to for all times.but (I know this fact) that I saw the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) perform ablution like this ablution of mine and then he said: He who performed ablution like this, all his previous sins would be expiated and his prayer and going towards the mosque would have an extra reward. And Uthman said: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) at the time of our returning from our prayer told us (certain things pertaining to purification).Upon this he said: A Muslim who purifies (himself) and completes purification as enjoined upon him by Allah and then offers the prayers, that will be expiatious (of his sins he committed) between these (prayers).Jami' b. Shaddad reported: I heard Humran b.
Aban narrate to Abu Burda in this very mosque during the governorship of Bishr that 'Uthman b. Alfan said: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) observed: He who completed ablution as Allah, the Exalted, enjoined upon him, his obligatory prayers would be explatious (for his minor sins that he would commit) during (the interval) between them.Uqba b. 'Amir al-Juhani reported: Verily the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said and then narrated (the hadith) like one (mentioned above) except (this) that he said: He who performed ablution and said : I testify that there is no god but Allah, the One, there is no associate with Him and I testify that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger.Babz reported: This hadith has been narrated by Wuwb on the authority of 'Amr b. Munabbih reported: This is what Abu Huraira transmitted to us from Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him), and he mentioned a number of a hadith, of which this is one: that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: When anyone amongst you (performs ablution) he must snuff his nostrils with water and then clean them.Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah (way peace he upon him) said: When anyone performs ablution he must clean his nose and when anyone wipes himself with pebbles (after answering the call of nature) he must do that odd number of times.Abu Huraira reported: The Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) said.'Abd al-Rahman b. Abu Bakr also came there and he performed ablution in her presence.Abdullah, the freed slave of Shahddad, came to 'A'isha and transmitted from her a hadith like this (which she narrated) from the Holy Prophet (may peace be upon him). The Prophet (may peace be upon him) said: Woe to (dry) heels, because of Hell-fire.'Abdullah b. Amr reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) lagged behind us on a journey.Abu Huraira reported: Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) saw a man who did not wash his heel and he remarked: Woe to the heels because of hell-fire.He then went back (performed ablution well) and offered the prayer. They said: Messenger of Allah, will you recognise us on that day?Abu Huraira reported the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: My people would come to me on the Cistern and I would drive away persons (from it) just as a person drives away other people's camels from his camels. They (the hearers) said: Apostle of Allah, would you recognize us?By Him in Whose Hand is my life, I will drive away persons (from it) just as a person drives away unknown camels from his cistern. They (the companions) said: Messenger of Allab, would you recognise us?I said to him: O Abu Huraira, what is this ablution?Miqdam b. Shuraih narrated it from his father who said: I asked A'isha what Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) did first when he entered his house, and she replied: He used tooth-stick (first of all).'A'isha reported: Whenever Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) entered his house, he used tooth-stick first of all. This hadith is reported from Hudaifa by another chain of transmitters. He has forbidden the use of dung or bone for it, and he has also instructed us not to use less than three pebbles (for this purpose). We turned our faces away from them and begged forgiveness of the Lord.Abu Huraira said:When any one amongst you squats for answering the call of nature, he should neither turn his face towards the Qibla nor turn his back towards it.Abu Qatada reported it from his father: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: None of you should hold penis with his right hand while urinating, or wipe himself with his right hand in privy and should not breathe into the vessel (from which he drinks). They (the companions present there) said: Messenger of Allah, what are those things which provoke cursing?Anas b.
Malik reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) entered an enclosure while a servant was following him with a jar of water and he was the youngest amongst us and he placed it by the side of a lote-tree.Hummam reported: Jarir urinated, then performed ablution and wiped over the socks.Hudhaifa reported: I was with the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) when he came to the dumping ground of filth belonging to a particular tribe.Abu Wa'il reported : Abu Musa inflicted extreme rigour upon himself in the matter of urination and urinated in a bottle and said: When the skin of anyone amongst the people of Israel was besmeared with urine, he cut that portion with a cutter.Hudhaifa said: I wish that'your friend should not inflict such an extreme rigour.Mughira b. How to Cleanse the Dog's Excrement on Clothes
Imam Nawawi explained in his book “Al Majmu'”, that a splash of dust or soil is advised on the first rinse.According to the verse above, it is mandatory to wash our utensils or clothes seven times if it gets licked by dogs, one of them is done by dust or soil. Al-Bukhaari and Muslim reported from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: If a dog licks the vessel of any one of you, let him throw away its contents, then wash it seven times.Clothes are put into water and washed so it is free from the stain of najis, be purified. However the requirement to clean dogs najis is by rinsing it for seven times, the first one with earth or anything that replace it such as soap or “asynaan”.The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was asked about ghee, cheese, and wild donkeys:.That is explained regarding how to cleanse the dog’s excrement on clothes and its verses. .
Q & A: “Dogs touching clothes…”
According to the dominant and most correct Hanafi view as stated by Alahazrat Imam Ahmad Reza Khan (Allah have mercy on him), a dog is not impure in and of itself only its saliva, blood and meat is.According to a lesser Hanafi opinion, if a wet dog shakes itself and the water falls on a person’s clothes then it will render the affected areas of the clothes impure and hence it will require washing:.“[…] if a dog comes out of the water and shakes itself and then touches the clothes of a person, then it will be impure not if the rain water touches it because the decisive point in the first case is its skin (jilduhu)* which is impure whereas in the second case it is its hair which is pure…” […]إذا خرج الكلب من الماء وانتفض فأصاب ثوب إنسان أفسده لا لو أصابه ماء المطر لأن المبتل في الأول جلده وهو نجس وفي الثاني شعره وهو طاهر….“[…] and some of [our jurists] differed over whether the hide/skin of dogs is pure or not; however the most correct opinion is that it is pure…” و اختلف في جلد الكلب والصحيح انه يطهر….If a dog playfully licks or bites onto an area of one’s clothes, the affected area will have to be washed but if it bites out of anger gnashing with its teeth on the clothes then it will not require washing. .
