Dog Beach of Hollywood Newsletter 2

Happy Holidays to all!

Here’s a quick update and an easy and quick way you can help us succeed with the DBOH project.

Our initial site, behind the Beach Community Center, has met with significant opposition, both from the nearby condo residents as well as from the Beach CRA Director. While that doesn’t rule that location out completely, at this point we are exploring another site outside the CRA and North of Sheridan St. We will have to work with the North Beach Civic Association on this one (all the way to Dania Beach Blvd), and there will be challenges there as well. In all likelihood, any site we choose will be met with some opposition. However, if we have enough people on our side, we will succeed.

This is where you can help:
If you are a Hollywood resident, please make your voice heard. “The squeaky wheel…” Call or email (or both) your District Commissioner and the Mayor and say the following:
“I am a resident of Hollywood, and I would like to have a LEGAL place
in Hollywood where I can enjoy the beach with my dog.”
Please keep your message that short and simple and avoid getting into a discussion of where, when, etc etc. They will read your emails and will take your calls, maybe not immediately, but they do listen. If there are only 10 people (and always the same 10) saying a dog beach is a good idea, we will not succeed.

Please tell your friends, neighbors, anyone you see with a dog, veterinarian, etc to do the same. I can not emphasize this enough—make your voice heard!
