Dear Dog Beach Supporters:
HI! No, we haven’t fallen off the face of the earth. We’ve
been quite busy working on Dog Beach and wanted to send you an update.
Since our initial meeting at Mama Mia’s on September 26th, here
is what has happened:
A Board of Directors was elected. Positions are posted on the website
(www.dboh.org). We have met twice and are hard at work achieve our goal.
We held a meeting with 6 representatives from the City of Hollywood to
present our proposal. Check out the details of that meeting under the
“News” link on the website. From that meeting we were able
to determine our priorities: 1) Citywide political support 2) Fundraising.
So far we have the initial support of District 1 Commissioner, and are
now working on approval from The Summit and The Nautilus condominiums
adjacent to the site.
Fundraising,fundraising,fundraising!!
We have designed and printed some great Dog Beach of Hollywood t-shirts
(thanks to www.grayedesigns.com of Miami for the design!). They are available
for sale for $15 at Petropolis Park located at the corner of Dixie Hwy
and Washington St., and we would really appreciate your support. We have
participated in three dog events to date (Howl-o-ween, Oktoberfest, and
Greyhound Walk) and plan to attend more.
We established a bank account at Colonial Bank, so we are ready to accept
your tax-deductible donations. (Thanks to Michael Greenwald for help with
the 501-c-3 forms!)
You can print a membership form from our website and mail it in with
your contribution. A $25 donation will entitle you to membership in the
90 day trial period we have proposed to the City for Dog Beach. Our costs
so far include printing, database, PO Box, and t-shirts, and since we
don’t expect any financial support from the City (at least initially),
we are going to have to fund the future cost of a monitor ourselves.
