Beach of Hollywood Update

Commissioner Anderson made a motion (seconded by Vice Mayor
Russo) to put a trial run of a legal dog beach in Hollywood on the Commission's
agenda. I have requested that this item be fast-tracked, as we have been
working on this for over 7 months.
I want to emphasize how pleased I am with the response we had to our request
for emails in favor of dog beach. Over 150 emails were sent to the Mayor
and Commissioners, and that made all the difference. In our numerous meetings
with the Commissioners, we heard comments that this was the largest response
they had had on any issue. GREAT JOB!
Now we need your continued help to have this resolution pass. Two things:
1) We need a significant turnout to the City Commission meeting when this
item comes up on the agenda. When is that going to be? I don't know. The
earliest date could be May 2nd. I have asked that this be a time-certain
item, as late in the day as possible, as I know it is difficult for many
people to come in the middle of the afternoon. If at all possible, pencil
this in on your calendar for May 2nd around 5 p.m., and as soon as I know
something, I will let you know. The soonest I will know is probably the
week prior. It is also possible that we may get pushed out to the next
meeting, May 16th. Again, I will email as soon as I know.
2) We need money. Plain and simple. We have $48 in our account and have
a filing fee due for our non-profit status. And we are going to be funding
the trial run. I don't have cost estimates on that yet, but I'm going
to guess a minimum of $2000 will be needed.
How to contribute:
The easiest way is to go to our new updated website www.dboh.org (Thank
you Fabian!) and you can use a credit card via PayPal. Any amount. Or
you can mail a check to DBOH, PO Box 222022, Hollywood, 33022-2022.
We would also like to ask you to purchase the remaining t-shirts we printed
as a fundraiser. They are $15 each and are available at Petropolis Park
Doggie Daycare at 2112 Washington St (954)923-7768.
If you could buy a t-shirt AND wear it to the Commission meeting, that
would be even better. Finally, I would like to thank those who have already
