Hello DBOH friends, volunteers & supporters,
Wonderful news ~ the ordinance passed today, unanimously! We will be reviewed every six months, so we must be diligent.
Highly praise was given by Mayor Bober and the commissioners, for our professionalism, passion, and service offered to the community. To our surprise, members of the North Beach Association (who objected for over nine months) opted not to fight us! Instead, offered to work together, to ensure that the dog beach continues to run smoothly.
Dog Beach of Huntington in California (the oldest & most succesful dog beach in the country) credits their success to their members' collective effort, "To be the eyes of the city". They have 200,000 visitors each year, along with the cleanest beach in the state. We must continue to watch and correct those who don't pick up, litter, or enter in the wrong area.
Thank you, to those who took the time of their busy schedule to come to the hearing, and those who were rooting all along. I want to express my deepest gratitude to those who worked so hard to make this a reality. Even though some are no longer active members, know that you left a paw print in our community.
Soon we will have biographies of our board members in our website. I ask that you become familiar with those who dedicated hundreds of hours to make this possible. A few of our board members have pet related businesses, so if you want to express your gratitude, consider using their services.
We will have more exciting news and events, and will need help. Visit www.dboh.org ~ and, see you at the beach, this weekend!
Sincerely,
Helena Drori
DBOH, President
